The company evolved from our founder Roy Tovey being made redundant from the Coal Industry in 1985, with Burntwood and the surrounding area falling foul to the pit closures of the time. From this Roy seized an opportunity to undertake some curtain work whilst working on another project for a client.

Seeing this as a business opportunity, Roy set up Haywoods Curtains with a modest workshop and office in Staffordshire, learning the techniques and standards set by the curtain industry, growing this over time to 13 members of staff supplying curtains to domestic and contract sectors.

The company quickly became Limited, and what with changing trends, diversified into different products such as roller blinds and other window treatments, and with a growing requirement and client base the time had come to move to larger premises. Word of Haywoods success quickly spread and at this time, Silent Gliss approached to become exclusive and unique in the supply and installation of their products – a relationship still in place to date.,
